Takeda strives to have a workplace as diverse as the patients we serve. We are committed to embracing differences, exploring possibilities and developing our employees. Our success depends on fostering an inclusive environment where all employees are welcomed, empowered and inspired to use their unique voices and talents. This is how we will find innovative approaches to serve our patients, customers and communities. This is how we will reach our highest potential together.
Our team-focused culture incorporates many ideas, perspectives and viewpoints in our determination to put patients at the center of everything we do. Our inclusive programs and policies make Takeda a workplace of choice where talented professionals can grow and flourish.
Takeda Resource Groups (TRGs) bring together employees with shared backgrounds and life experiences, as well as supporting allies, to advance business goals and foster an inclusive work environment. Collectively, they represent a diverse and global community. TRGs are organizationally aligned and committed to leading initiatives that positively impact our patients, communities, employees and workplace.
TRGs:
We continually broaden our efforts to ensure a fully inclusive culture to secure our place as an employer of choice, as a valued contributor within the communities in which we live and work, and as a leader in providing innovative solutions for patients.
Current programs that further these goals include:
Takeda is committed to fostering workplace development, diversity and inclusion across the biotechnology industry. We’re dedicated to being at the forefront of efforts to develop a diverse and talented global workforce.
Takeda has a long history of supporting nonprofit organizations through corporate giving, employee volunteerism and employee giving. Our Growing Communities program enables us to engage our employees and make meaningful contributions to support the communities where we live and work in the U.S., aiming to build deep, impactful relationships with our community partners.

Takeda’s purpose of “better health for people, brighter future for the world” serves as the inspiration for our corporate giving efforts. We seek to reduce the social disparities affecting communities in need by supporting meaningful programs in two focus areas: Food is Health and Building STEM Foundations.
Eating a healthy diet is essential for maintaining good health and preventing chronic diseases. By providing access to healthy food and promoting education and awareness around healthy eating habits, we can help support communities in need and take an active role in improving healthcare and overall well-being. This is why we support programs that focus on the role of food in improving health.
The lack of good, healthy food burdens the U.S. health care system with an estimated $53 billion in avoidable expenses each year, says Feeding America. The pandemic further increased the demand for nutritious food and inflation put affordable healthy food out of reach for many working families. Yet good nutrition is essential for people to stay healthy.
We work with partners to provide the right nutrition to those who need it the most. Incorporating healthy foods into diets can help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and certain types of cancer. In addition, a healthy diet can improve mental health, boost energy levels and promote healthy aging.
To solve many of the most pressing challenges facing the world, like climate change and population health, we need diverse perspectives in science and technology. By investing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education, we can prepare the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers to drive progress and shape the future. We support programs in the areas of K-8 math, high school STEM enrichment and college success.
Building a strong foundation in STEM subjects is critical for students who aspire to pursue careers in science. STEM education provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to solve complex problems, think critically, and innovate. By developing a strong understanding of STEM fundamentals, students can pursue careers of tremendous impact.
STEM education can also help students develop important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and adaptability, which are essential for success in any career. By investing in STEM education, we can prepare the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers who will drive progress and shape the future. We focus on supporting programs in the areas of K-8 math, high school STEM enrichment and college success.
We focus on impacting our most vulnerable populations and support programming in the following two areas:
Our focus is on programs that positively impact communities in the United States. We do try to support programs that are near our major facilities in Greater Boston, Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Brooklyn Park, MN.

Takeda has built an agile global R&D organization, driven by innovative science. This focus on unlocking innovation and delivering potentially transformative therapies to patients extends to our R&D Science Philanthropy initiative, which prioritizes programs that enable cross-industry partnerships and collaboration to accelerate the speed of innovation and support education and career development among aspiring and experienced scientists.
We focus our R&D Science Philanthropy efforts on partnerships that may offer non-traditional approaches to common challenges (e.g. data standards and data sharing, speed and cost of clinical trials, pandemic preparedness, etc.) and programs that support the scientific aspirations of students or career scientists who may wish to further develop their careers within the industry.
To ensure that the programs we support align with our science philanthropy goals we research and proactively invite partnership opportunities and we do not generally support unsolicited requests for funding. For more information, please contact [email protected].
