Takeda Belgium: Commitment to Better Health and a Brighter Future
Our Commitment
Commitment to Patients
At Takeda, we put patients at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is to discover, develop, and deliver life-transforming, safe, and affordable medicines to enhance the well-being of patients, communities, and countries.
At the collective level, our patient advocacy team partners with over 40 patient organizations in Belgium. Through established partnerships, we pursue objectives working with key stakeholders and decisionmakers to represent patient needs and creating connections and support networks for patients.
Crohn & La Rectocolite et nous / Wij hebben Crohn & Colitis are patient blogs offering information, support, and personal stories for those affected by Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
The blogs focus on real-life stories from people living with these conditions, shared through interviews by The Fat Lady, a content creation agency. Additionally, the site offers detailed information about the diseases, covering symptoms and dietary recommendations.
HAE is a rare disease, with an estimated 230 patients in Belgium, meaning it impacts a small group.
People with HAE not only seek care but also look for information and support from others who are living with the same condition. Through personal stories, Takeda aims to provide context about the disease.
The myHAE community is a dedicated place where HAE patients can connect with each other and find essential information about their disease.
For You With You is an app that supports those living with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) by offering symptoms tracking toilet finder and educational content.
The goal of the app is to empower its users by providing tailored support and information, enabling them to take a more active role in their health management while also offering emotional support through education articles and videos.
The content of the application results from collaboration with Belgian patient associations, ASBL Crohn-RCUH and Crohn & Colitis ulcerosa Vereniging vzw (CCV), as well as with gastroenterologists and nurses specialized in IBD.
The Rare Disease Diagnosis Alliance (RADDIAL) focuses on optimising and shortening the diagnosis pathway for rare disease patients.
This initiative has been set up by Takeda together with Sanofi, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Alnylam Pharmaceuticals and Chiesi.
It is carried out in close cooperation with the patient association Rare Diseases Organization Belgium - RaDiOrg, an independent partner, to ensure that the patient perspective stays central to the dialogue.
TakAdemy, is a specialized training program designed for leaders of patient organizations. It aims at enhancing the capabilities of patient organization leaders, providing them with practical tools and advice to lead their organizations more effectively.
Each training session is conducted in both French and Dutch to ensure optimal interaction with the participants.

Commitment to the Planet
Our ambition at the Takeda Lessines manufacturing site is to reach net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in our operations by 2030.
Moving beyond carbon neutrality, we are focusing on decarbonizing our operations and reinvesting resources in initiatives that drive us toward this goal.
We are proud to be the first pharmaceutical manufacturing site globally to recycle wastewater for reuse in our production processes. Leading to tangible results, with a reduction of our freshwater consumption by up to 60%, or 1,2 million liters a day.
Our sustainability efforts encompass various initiatives, including sourcing 100% renewable electricity, installing 8,000 solar panels (with more to come), and the installation of 2 wind turbines.
These efforts reflect our commitment to sustainability and creating a positive impact on both the environment and our community.
